Try a different approach: If you’re having trouble getting through to a student, try switching it up. If you’ve been drilling technique, focus on musical expression; if you’ve been stressing music reading, try introducing some ear training games. Even young children sometimes like to have some control over the learning process, so consider asking them what they think needs work or letting them choose their own piece to prepare.
Consult with parents: Parents know their kids best, so let them know if you’re having disciplinary or motivational problems. Some children focus better if a parent sits in on their lesson.
Contact us: If problems with a student persist, let us know. We may be able to help you find a solution, or if you prefer, suggest the student find a new teacher.
